Torel Royal Court

The staff were the best part, very courteous, helpful, and available whenever we needed them. The hotel is a beautiful property in Guimaraes, close to the historical landmarks. Our room was an incredible surprise after the upgrade, very spacious, with windows we could open at night for cool air. Parking was included in an underground location next to the hotel. When we return to Guimaraes, this is where we’ll stay. Highly recommended!

The parking is awkward and inconvenient, especially when you first arrive. Valet parking would be a real improvement and would fit the level of service inside. We stayed at Conquistador Palace in December, my wife and I. The building feels solid and the room was clean and functional, comfortable without anything excessive. Breakfast was good, with enough choice and good quality for a relaxed start to the day. The staff were the real strength: polite, professional, calm, attentive, and always ready to help without making a show of it. They carry the place well. It was a good stay, defined by excellent staff and held back a little by practical details.

We’d definitely stay again. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from the old town sights, and the staff were kind and attentive. The large rooms have beautifully decorated ceilings over 12 feet high, and the marble and stone bathroom felt extremely posh. I couldn’t find out the building’s real history, though it certainly seems to have been the city home of a noble house. What a gem!

Manager Tânia and the team were incredible, with high-level personal service throughout. Everything felt impeccable, from the unique bar lounge to the great breakfast. It’s a classy, wonderful experience in a historical boutique mansion, owned by Portugal’s most famous tennis star João Sousa and close to important sites in Guimarães. I’ll visit again!
