Azoris Faial Garden

The location is great, and the reception staff deserve a special mention. They were professional and always in a good mood, which made our stay enjoyable. It's a nice resort, though the rooms could use a little refurbishment.

You can hardly beat the setting, just footsteps above Horta harbor, with stunning views. The hotel is very clean, but it shows its age: furnishings and decor feel dated and don't have much warmth or charm. Beds are quite firm, perhaps too firm for some, and noise travels between rooms because soundproofing is limited. The breakfast buffet is generous, but the coffee was surprisingly disappointing when coffee elsewhere on the island is fantastic. Most of the staff were very friendly and engaged, clearly trying to provide good service. One person at reception was a notable exception and detracted from those otherwise positive interactions. The place benefits hugely from its prime location, but the facilities and amenities could use investment to match the beautiful setting.

We had a view of the water, and the rooms are large. The bathrooms are clean otherwise, but outdated and showing some mold, while the closets smell musty. The carpeted rooms weren't to my taste. Food at the bar and the bar staff were excellent. Breakfast had a good variety.

The surroundings are nicely decorated, and the hotel's location is great. It offers quite a few ways to relax, and the service is okay, fast and good quality. The place does show its age, mostly in the bathroom. Beds could be softer, and the wifi signal is poor.
