Breakfast was a real treat: each morning brought a fresh, individually prepared selection of salami, ham, cheese, two kinds of bread, eggs cooked differently each day, and wonderful fresh orange juice. We also loved the hotel's place on the village square, where you can watch everyday village life unfold. The oceanfront setting in this charming rural village was a delight, with lovely views of the promenade from the breakfast area.

The ocean view from our small room was fantastic, and the location was beautiful and peaceful. Staff were very helpful, and breakfast was enjoyable, with plenty of flexibility around what we wanted. We also found a sweet little gift on the doorstep each day. Our first room was just below the kitchen chimney, so the ventilator ran all day and made the balcony smelly and noisy. We asked to move and were given a room on the other side of the building, which was great. Parking gets busy, but we could always find a spot on the road down to the ocean. The rooms are nice, though a bit warm without air conditioning, and the plastic-like fitted sheet or mattress cover wasn't pleasant. It's a great place to stay, though I wouldn't call it a boutique hotel, and the price feels high for what you get.

We loved our room and the restaurant was amazing. The town is so cute, it really feels like a quaint European fishing village. The staff were super friendly, kind, and happy to help. Such an amazing hotel.

We stayed six nights and got surprisingly attached to the place. Almost everyone we met was cheerful and so friendly, and by the time we left, it was hard to say goodbye. It's right in the centre of jadim do mar, with a killer view and great food just downstairs. We'd love to come back if we holiday in madeira again. Thanks, everyone.

We had a very negative experience here, so we can't recommend this place. Jardim do Mar is beautiful and worth a day trip, but we'd suggest staying in one of the lovely apartments, hotels, or quintas near Funchal or Santana instead.
