Jose arranged two lovely tours for me, one adventurous and fun trip west in the morning and a fabulous sunset tour in the evening. When the tour company forgot to pick me up, José came within 10 minutes and drove me more than 60 km so I could catch up with the tour. I've never met a more caring host in all my travels. From the moment I arrived, José and Sónia welcomed me with a big hug in front of the church and gave me tips about the current festival. I totally recommend Chez Holidays in Lagos!

Jose and Sonia were fantastic hosts, always attentive, and we really valued the suggestions they sent each day. We stayed for five nights in a room with a private bathroom, which was lovely and new. The house is in a quiet spot that's convenient for Lagos, with two typical Portuguese restaurants and a supermarket close by.

We had a very enjoyable stay. The hosts shared lots of useful ideas for exploring, including a walking trail, restaurants and beaches. They also have books you can borrow and take to the beach. Thanks, José and Sónia, for taking such good care of us. It's a lovely option if you'd rather avoid a huge coastal hotel. We understood when booking that this was an AL location, Alojamento Local, where locals make accommodation available to tourists, rather than a deluxe hotel. The house was beautiful and well kept, with a garden and a nice balcony split into two private sections by a screen. The modern room was fully equipped and had a wonderful bed. Our bathroom was down the hallway rather than en suite, but it was large, exclusively for us, and had a double sink and bathtub. There's a small fridge in the shared area where we stored breakfast, and you can cook, barbecue or wash dishes in the garden. Shampoo and other supplies were provided, as was a very nice hairdryer. Some reviews aren't entirely accurate, but that didn't bother us at all.

The hosts were excellent and knew the area well. The house is elegant and beautifully decorated, and the room was very nice and comfortable. It's 3 km from Lagos, which I liked because it meant less noise and made it easy to relax. If you're into mountain biking, José can show you some magnificent local routes. Enjoy!
