Sunny House

A friend and I booked a private room with a shared bathroom. We didn't use or even see the common area or kitchen, since there's a separate access door closer to the rooms than the main entrance. The room was spacious, with clean linen, a couple of extra blankets, and nice big towels. We saw the cleaning lady a couple of times a day, cleaning the shared bathroom and changing the floor towel. It was always clean and smelled clean. The location is good, about a five-minute walk from central Lagos and 10-15 minutes from the closest beaches. For what we paid, the quality was worth it.

We stayed five nights, and the rooms were clean. The position is great, and I recommend it. The shared bathroom was clean whenever we got back, and they cleaned it a few times. The kitchen and garden look better in person than in the photo.

The kitchen and shared dining area were a real plus, with a coffee machine, fresh fruit in the morning, and plenty of room to relax. Staff were helpful, and the bathrooms were clean and had shower gel available. Our private room was clean and roomy enough for its bunk beds, table, and chairs. The place sits on a hill, but the city centre is close and the beach is about a 15-minute walk away.

For what it costs, this place is hopelessly overpriced. The reception and breakfast area are underground, and cleanliness was only fair. There’s no free guest parking, despite what the listing says. Access to the kitchen is limited to 3-11 pm. The room and bathroom fittings are very old, with broken toilet seats, shower heads, doors, locks, chairs, and other things that are barely usable. The staff also weren’t friendly or helpful. I really don’t understand the positive reviews, even for a small hostel.
