Lagar do Sapateiro

We had dinner and spent the night here. The green beans came in a generous serving, and I hadn’t found anything like them elsewhere during two weeks in Portugal. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Our room felt cosy and rustic, with some modern updates. We’d definitely stay again.

The owner and chef were charming, welcoming, and always ready to help. The restaurant was impeccable, with top-notch food and service from the owner. I noticed local businessmen having lunch there. Breakfast was decent, with ham and eggs cooked fresh each morning. Our small room was spotless and well equipped, though it’s an ancient house, so keep that in mind. Follow the road signs to the hotel exactly. We stayed two days at this rural, somewhat isolated place, found it good value, and would recommend it.

Chef Marcio Santos brings back the tastes of your grandmother’s cooking, like being a kid again, but with an exquisite high-cuisine touch. Save room for dessert.

The food looked as good as it tasted, and the menu was great. Staff were especially attentive. It was a little hot inside, but that was the only downside.
