We found the place easily because our taxi took us right to the door, but nobody was there to greet us or show us to our room. The only contact was a phone call from someone who might have been the owner. There didn’t seem to be any staff around. The location has pubs, bars, and a few small grocery shops, though it’s out on the edge of the city, around a 30-minute drive from both the beach and the city. Some rooms don’t have air conditioning, windows, or bathrooms, so be glad if you get one with AC. There were lizards on the outside walls, and inside we found cockroaches or bugs. The rooms were dirty and falling apart, and most of the appliances couldn’t be used. Nearly all the cupboards were locked. There was hair on the bathroom wall, and I didn’t dare touch the bed pillows. I slept on top of the bed. We cleaned the room ourselves because we didn’t feel safe trusting its condition. Mold, leaks, or bugs in the room seem likely. Book at your own risk. I couldn’t post all the photos because they supposedly “breached” some rules, so make of that what you will.

The location worked for me, with public transport right beside the hotel. That was the one upside. The room was in terrible shape, with black mold, cockroaches, hair lying around, and parts literally crumbling. There was no staff while I was there, so we had to clean the room ourselves. The free WiFi was incredibly weak, and there was only a shared fridge in the lobby. No AC, just a fan. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in.

The bed was really comfortable, and the rolling shutters made the room dark at night. There’s no air conditioning in any of the rooms. The bathroom setup wasn’t great either, with a tiny shower and no counter space by the sink. I showed up at the agreed time, but she wasn’t there, so someone else had to let me in. Booking.com messages weren’t the best way to communicate. I think WhatsApp works better.

We arrived at midnight, and the manager was there with the keys and showed us around. They were warm and welcoming. We’d mentioned on the phone that we had a baby, and the manager had arranged a trolley before we got there. The washroom was beautiful and the beds were cozy. I’ll definitely stay again when I’m back in Lisbon for meetings.
