Refúgio Popular Hostel

Great.

The location is really good, right beside the metro, but my month at this hostel was a very unpleasant experience. I only stayed because I'd already paid and they wouldn't refund me. It's suitable for no more than two days; beyond that, I don't think it'll be a good experience. The hostel was disorganized, guests ignored the rules and the owner, and nobody did anything about it. There wasn't a proper reception. We were told check-in was at 3 p.m., but people were sometimes put in the room in the middle of the night, waking other guests. There were fights, sex in the room, overcrowding, too much noise, and visitors staying overnight. The rooms weren't cleaned either. I got the impression the owner cared only about making money, not about what daily life was like for the people staying there.

I only spent three days at this hostel, but thought it was really good. The place was always clean, the owner, staff member, and other people in the house were very attentive, and the bed linen had been put on when I arrived. The price is great for this part of town. Whenever I needed something, they were ready to help. The atmosphere at home was peaceful and fun. I'd definitely stay here again if I return to Lisboa. I recommend it! :)

The atmosphere felt warm and family-like, and both the staff and guests were really friendly. I stayed at Refugio Popular for a week and enjoyed it a lot. They gave me fresh, clean-smelling bedding when I checked in. Thanks for making guests feel so welcome.
