Emcasa Guesthouse

Breakfast was a highlight: buttery scrambled eggs, changing fresh-pressed juices, sweet and savory dishes from an à la carte menu, fresh baked goods, house-made jams and granola. Everything was freshly made and nicely presented, with the breakfast room facing the green view. The hotel has a lovely living room with a large dining table and a sitting area, where you can choose from Portuguese wines, spirits, other non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. The owners know their wines and can help with a selection. Outside, I especially liked the plants thoughtfully arranged around the pool and property. The pool feels like it overhangs the greenery, and there are plenty of spots to enjoy the natural surroundings, which are the main attraction here. The views are lush forests and fields, with Atlantic air, blue skies and lots of sun. There's also a small private grass garden with comfortable seating. Our room was comfortable, with a vintage chic feel. The refurbished and repurposed furniture worked beautifully with the modern furnishings and lighting. Everything felt high quality and comfortable, and the balcony offered generous private space and wide views. It had everything we needed to feel at ease. The hotel is at the end of a hilltop street with a private entrance down to the beach, and with only about seven rooms, it feels quaint and quiet. You'll need a rental car to reach the hotel. It's well placed for visiting several UNESCO heritage sights, and Lissabon is about an hour away.

The pool is an ideal place to spend a few relaxing days, and there's a well-written digital concierge with useful ideas for restaurants, beaches and nearby sights. Breakfast was excellent, with high-quality food and all sorts of options for starting the day. Emcasa Boutique Guesthouse is set among the hills in a small Portuguese village, not far from beautiful beaches. The design furniture throughout has been chosen with care and great taste. You can feel Ronny's personal attention in all the details of the management and guest experience. It offers everything I wanted for a relaxing getaway.

The pool and location are breathtaking, the rooms are stylish, and Ronny's recommendations for restaurants and wineries were great. The nearby beaches are amazing too. Everything at Ronny & Timo’s place has been thought through down to the smallest detail. Breakfast was outstanding and featured local food; it was my favorite part of the day at emcasa. We'll definitely be back, thanks again!

#emcasa was a lovely pause after two busy weeks of travel, and we stayed for two nights to relax and recharge. The view is beautiful, and our room was spacious, clean and organized just like the photos. I loved the large closet. Ronny, Timo and Angela worked together impeccably and made us feel at home. Breakfast by the pool was A+. We especially liked the muesli with fresh fruit, fresh mint tea and carrot-ginger juice, a nice reset after all the Portuguese pastries and traditional food we'd enjoyed on the trip. The wine selection was good and well-priced. Their digital concierge was a plus, with excellent restaurant and beach recommendations. Our favorite was the "grandma" resto. They even had a beach bag ready for us. We highly recommend the place.
