I DON'T RECOMMEND! I wasn't staying at this hostel, but at the hotel across the street. On our first night, a woman was screaming so loudly outside that it woke us up. At first, since it was Saturday, I thought some teenagers were making a scene, but it kept going. It turned out to be the couple who run the hostel arguing, and the man was hitting the woman with a stick. People called the police. Locals told us this wasn't the first time, and that they argue and he hits her from time to time. Make up your own mind about staying somewhere run by this couple.

We really enjoyed the hostel’s easygoing atmosphere, cozy backyard, and terrace. It’s right in the center of Praia da Areia Branca, a lovely town near beautiful, unspoiled beaches that are great for surfing. We had some helpful surf lessons, and Zé’s hospitality will definitely stick with us.

What a terrible start to my vacation. My flight landed at 8 pm, and the airport is an hour’s drive away. By the time I got to the hostel, reception was closed and nobody answered the door. A guest inside gave me the host’s phone number. I called three times, and someone picked up and hung up each time. I had to go to the other hostel where I was due to check in the next day. Otherwise, I might have spent the night on the street. The area is quite calm at night, and all the guests had already checked in. It was a miracle I found somewhere to sleep. After an eight-hour flight and an hour’s drive, I never expected to find the place locked up.

The owner was really kind and ready to help with any problem. The place was awesome, very clean, and close to the beach. We enjoyed our stay and are thinking of coming back!
