The views are stunning, and staying in the old village in a unique stone house felt like a fairy tale. It was a nice experience, though the staff weren’t very flexible and the place was too cold. I had to go into the forest to gather wood and heat the fireplace. The hosts could do something to make this better.

The house is a lovely place to get away from it all and be surrounded by nature. We stayed in “Casa dos Padres,” which has four bedrooms and four bathrooms and can sleep more than ten people. That layout was very convenient for us and was the main reason we booked it. The kitchen is fully equipped, with an oven and hob, fridge, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and capsules, microwave, and washing machine for laundry. We had a problem with the hot tub during our stay, but the owner and Catarina were very helpful and fixed it quickly. A few things could be improved. The two upstairs bedrooms got extremely hot even with the wooden shutters closed, and only one had a fan. An AC in each would help. The room with four beds had very weak Wi-Fi, and there was no signal when both its door and the kitchen door were closed, so a Wi-Fi extender would be useful. There are at least four restaurants in the village. We only tried Taberna, which I think is the main one. Phone reception isn’t very good, but they have Wi-Fi. The food selection is broad, with vegan and vegetarian options. Breakfast has a €6 menu, plus other, cheaper choices depending on what you want. If you plan to have dinner at Taberna, it’s best to book ahead because evenings can get busy. The kitchen closes at 9 pm, so keep that in mind if you eat late. The village isn’t suitable for people with mobility problems or wheelchair users. There are two roads in. The shorter one is a bit dangerous, so if you’re not an experienced driver, I think the longer route is a better choice: it’s wider and has some protection along the edges.

The views are stunning. With every turn, the scenery gets prettier. Just visit and stay in one of the houses, it’s so worth it.

I stopped in for coffee, some sweet pastries and a beer. The grilled fish smelled delicious. What a wonderful place.
