Madeira Surf Camp

We spent three nights here and took surfing lessons on two days. My fiancé found the school so we could brush up on our skills and enjoy Madeira Island’s stunning views. Self-check-in was easy, the room was clean, and the window view was beautiful. Diogo and Guigues were fantastic instructors, knowledgeable, friendly, and a joy to surf with. Helder, the owner, was welcoming too. Catching waves in such a beautiful setting was a pleasure. We highly recommend Madeira Surf Camp 🤙🏼 and can’t wait to come back! Warmly, G & Oscar

The house was super clean, and the rooftop view was awesome. I spent 10 days at Madeira Surf Camp, taking 8 surfing classes and renting a board for 2 days. I made so much progress with my surfing. Many thanks to Helder and Cecilio for great coaching and helping me improve. See you soon 🤙

I spent 10 days in Porta Do Cruz, which was great for resting, surfing, hiking, and eating well at Pipa. The local community was friendly, the vibes were easygoing, and the town was lovely. For learning to surf in Madeira, this felt like the best school and town. The modern house in the center was amazing value, with everything I needed, just 3 minutes from the beach and restaurants. Go relax! The Surf House was clean, modern, and central, close to the supermarket, beach, and everything in Porto do Cruz. In October there wasn’t much of a community in the house, but I liked having privacy. I met people at Jaca hostel’s Pizza and Burger nights, and also at Pipa restaurant. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear people in other rooms, though that’s common in Portugal. The surf classes were the best I’ve had at my 4th surf school. Cecilio was especially patient, calm, fun, and attentive to each student. His tips helped me progress, and it was motivating that he noticed when I listened and improved. The lessons took us to 3 different beaches depending on where conditions were best that day, and it was nice to see Seixal and Machico beach too. Helder managed things really well, replied fast, and took great professional photos for us without extra pay. Other schools often charge for that. All the classes started on time and felt well organized. There were surf classes every day.

The instructors were cool and knew what they were doing. They explained the basics and safety precautions, so we could enjoy our surf sessions without worry. We had a great experience at this school. I’d highly recommend visiting and giving wave-catching a try.
