The sunrise from the terrace was breathtaking, and the peaceful, slightly out-of-the-way location in Caniçal made for a quiet stay. The apartments are modern, stylish and fully equipped. I especially enjoyed having a jacuzzi and pool, which added a relaxing touch. A great fit if you want privacy and comfort among nature, and a chance to unwind and recharge. I’d happily recommend it.

For the price of a room in a small town, I expected toiletries and more than a tiny roll of toilet paper. The duvet was left in the wardrobe with a separate cover that didn’t fit properly, which felt inconvenient and unprepared. The room was far smaller than Booking advertised, with little natural light, and its only window/door opened onto a public entrance, so privacy was limited. Housekeeping kept passing by throughout the day, and we felt uncomfortable, almost as if we were being watched. The property has a luxurious look and access to a sauna, jacuzzi and pool, but arranging use of them was unnecessarily complicated, even though we were the only guests. The atmosphere felt strange, and the housekeeping staff and WhatsApp contact didn’t show hospitality to match the price or presentation.

The sauna and jacuzzi were the only redeeming parts of our stay, though the sauna wasn’t on at first. The housekeeper brushed us off instead of helping, and it only got turned on after we contacted the administrator again. There was so much foam in the jacuzzi that it blew around in the strong wind. Others have said the facilities weren’t available, so it’s probably best to confirm before booking. The room had a broken shower door, no toiletries, and a TV whose AirPlay wouldn’t connect to an iPhone. Its only window faced the driveway, leaving the room very dim. Booking.com listed it as 30 sqm, but it seemed closer to 12. The service felt bad and the guesthouse wasn’t welcoming, with housekeeping seeming to watch our every move. When we messaged the administrator on WhatsApp, we got generic, unhelpful explanations that seemed written by ChatGPT, and our phone calls went unanswered.

We barely spent time in the apartment because we were out exploring, but the location worked well: close to things, yet far enough from city noise. We also loved the daily sunrises and sea view. The modern, cosy place felt cared for, even down to a pleasant scent inside. Self check-in made arrival easy, and the owner was available when we needed help. There’s a handy small kitchen, coffee machine with capsules, sandwich maker, reliable internet, a great shower and soft bathrobes. We didn’t use the pool or jacuzzi, though other guests seemed to enjoy them, and there are benches for sunbathing. Parking is available on the property or nearby on the street, though the spaces can be tricky. There’s no AC, but the building design kept the apartment pleasantly cool during the day. A few things could be better: the fridge wasn’t working, and the bed and pillows left us with sore backs or necks. Smaller pillow options would help. Thursday to Saturday nights we could hear city music and parties quite loudly, making sleep harder, though that may have been a one-off.
