The hosts were welcoming and happy to help, and everything was spotless. We had clean, high quality sheets on every bed and comfortable mattresses, plus lovely valley views from the balcony. Breakfast was excellent, with local cheeses as part of the spread. They get all the important things right.

Descanso Serrano made our time in Manteigas special, and I hope we can visit again. The guesthouse sits in a beautiful little village in the heart of the magnificent Serra da Estrela Mountains. Its rooms are tastefully decorated, with an old-school feel. The host was kind and even made a real effort to speak with me in a mix of Spanish and Portuguese so I could practice. He suggested places to visit and restaurants, and agreed to serve breakfast two hours early. The food was tasty, and we got to try local cheese. He also gave us more comfortable rooms at no extra charge, even though the reservation mistake was ours. I really appreciate all that.

The owner and workers were very welcoming. The bed was really comfortable, the sheets were clean, and the view from the window was amazing. Breakfast was delicious, and the bathroom was lovely and clean.
