Quinta de Leandres Guest House

Our group appreciated the swimming pool almost as soon as we arrived. There’s no bar, just a breakfast room, but the large fridge and freezer, microwave, kettle, and barbecue made it easy to sort out our own food and drinks. The washing machine was available too. Most of us enjoyed picking up supplies at the supermarket in Manteigas and relaxing outdoors in the lovely surroundings. I took a short walk up the forested hillside and found plenty of signs of wild boar. I saw Eagles, and I believe a Collared Flycatcher. Long-eared Owls were calling in the evening and early morning. On our rest day, I had time to sketch while the others explored the exciting roads of the Serra. Armandino and Conceição were welcoming. I struggle with Portugese, but we managed to communicate effectively using a mix of languages. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the parking was clearly secure. Armandino’s ‘automatic – electronic’ door opener was amusing. Quinta de Leandres is one of those quirky places you come across on a tour and have to decide whether to risk staying. Bringing a motorcycle group made it a bigger risk for me. I’d planned two nights in the Serra da Estrela, Portugal’s renowned highest mountain range. My tours are small-scale and exclusive, focused on experiences rather than miles, so I like to mix posh but impersonal hotels with family-run places like this one. I’d thoroughly recommend the Quinta for its location, facilities, and excellent value for money.

A quiet, calm place for a relaxing weekend in the mountains. The staff were friendly and even made breakfast for us 2.5h early because part of our group was taking part in a local event.

Armandino and Conceição were great hosts at this quaint little inn. The rooms were small but clean, and the price was reasonable. It’s easy to get to Serra de Estrela, and the village of Manteigas is beautiful.

My pregnancy weight made it a little hard to get into the small bathroom in our room, but the place was absolutely amazing. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. I’d definitely recommend it, especially the strawberry marmalade!
