Porto Mar Hotel

The service was kind, flexible, and professional. The rooms are clean and well equipped. It’s near the beach, in a calm spot, and has good transport connections.

The staff seem very helpful, and renting a bike right at the hotel is an interesting idea. It’s a beautifully renovated hotel with a lovely interior, and you can walk to the beach. The immediate neighborhood looks a little scruffy, but I still felt safe walking back after sunset.

The hotel was wonderfully quiet, even the air conditioner, and I was amazed by what you get for the modest price. The restored older building feels modern, with a gorgeous historic staircase and a salon or parlor on every floor for reading. Some have puzzles and other amusements for children. My room was small, but the bathroom was larger than most, modern, stylish, and easy to use. The bed was large and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was a good continental spread, served in a spacious, spotless dining room with tasteful decor. The staff were friendly, helpful, and courteous. I’d definitely stay here again.

The street-facing room had streetcar noise, and there was an air freshener smell that seemed to be covering smoke. Breakfast was nice. The elegant 1920 building has been updated and has much more character than an airport hotel. It’s about 15 minutes from the airport and near seafood restaurants.
