The views from this hilltop hotel are lovely, and the rooms and house are decorated with Portuguese furniture. But the staff alone would be reason enough to book. They were FANTASTIC. A place you really should visit.

Parking is right across from the hotel, and the views are fantastic. We had a lovely home-cooked dinner and a great breakfast. The place has beautiful old-world charm, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Joanne made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The pool and its surroundings were the highlight for me, with stunning views across the vineyards in the evening and again in the morning. The room was lovely, the bathroom luxurious, and both breakfast and dinner were wonderful. I can see why it has a 9.3 on Booking.

After a full day sightseeing in the Douro Valley, the quiet setting gave us a chance to unwind, and the pool was a welcome way to cool off on a hot summer day. The scenery is stunning. If I’m lucky enough to come back, I wouldn’t hesitate to book here again.

Coming back to Casa d’Alem after exploring Peso Regua, Douro and the surrounding hills and vineyards was a lovely way to unwind. We could swim, stroll around the courtyard, take it easy in our room and enjoy dinner with good wine. Joana, her husband and the whole staff made our stay, a gift from our relatives for our anniversary, a really special holiday. MANY THANKS again, Milan & Katarína.
