Herdade Lago Real

We spent lovely family time at the hotel on our first visit last week. It seems to have three main buildings, and masks were required indoors. It’s easy to find with Google Maps; look for the small Herdade Lago Real sign, and if you’re going past the road to Mira beach, the hotel is visible along the way. It’s four minutes from the city center, where you can shop at Pingo doce or Intermarché. We paid almost €100 for one night, booked by phone and paid at check-in. It felt worth staying more than one night. Parking is free and easy to find. There’s a lot on offer. Our room was spacious for three, clean, and had a TV, AC, and small fridge, though the fridge didn’t cool our drinks at all. The large bathroom was clean and came with a bathtub, hairdryer, towels, and bath amenities. The building looks old, but that didn’t bother us since it’s well maintained and clean. Both pools, the main one and the smaller one in another building, were very clean and relaxing, with plenty of free benches. Tennis, a football field, billiards, and bicycles are free to use, just ask reception. Kayaking on the clean water in the lagoon is free too, and the view is lovely. There’s also a small zoo with birds, a pony, and other animals, plus a free kids’ playground. The pool bar is there, and massages can be booked for a fee. Buffet dinner is €15 per person and needs to be booked at reception. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we saw them cleaning the spaces regularly because of Covid-19. Breakfast was good, with fruit, bread, drinks, and cereals.

A great place to unwind away from the crowded beach. There’s a huge pool, a bar, and a full range of services for a good stay, with lots of activities for the whole family. Fair prices and a cool owner.

There are lots of free activities, and the rooms are nice and clean. The pool is amazing and works for kids of all ages, and the restaurant is good too. Bar service could be quicker and better, though it’s not too bad. Great spot for a family holiday, really recommend it.
