10/10
The vineyard setting is beautifully kept, with a lovely garden and old fountains. Inside, my room had a high ceiling and plenty of space, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nice, and the staff were friendly. A quietly luxurious place for mature guests, and a rare chance to stay in a grand old manor full of character.

The warm welcome from everyone, especially Sofia, is what made this stay feel so special. Solar de Serrade has lovely rooms, peaceful surroundings, and a homely breakfast. The vineyard is a wonderful setting, and the wine tasting was great too. I hadn't expected to enjoy my stay quite so much.

The people were very nice, though only one person spoke any English. Since this was the first night of my tour, I needed an easy start, but I ended up several Km outside town without a car or the Portuguese needed to arrange a taxi. They don't serve dinner, either. With no A/C, opening the windows meant mosquitoes. Some of that isn't the hotel's fault, and it is what it is, but my tour company shouldn't have booked me here. This place may suit others, just not me.

The suites have the best views, and I could happily spend a day in the garden with a bottle or three of their crisp, refreshing wine. It's a peaceful hideaway near Monçao, right in the heart of vinho verde country. The hotel feels gloriously old-fashioned and quaint, which gives it a lot of charm.

For a reasonable price, you get a charming place with kind staff, a good breakfast, and rooms that are clean and roomy enough.
