Casa Jaede

What a stunning place, it really has that wow factor!

I spent a week at Casa Jaede in October and November 2016, and I’m sure I’ll be back. Luc and Freya, who are Belgian, run the main house. It feels like a country guesthouse mixed with an alpine chalet, with a long glass extension along the building and a big shared space that works as the lounge, dining room, and kitchen. Three bedrooms lead off it, each with its own bathroom. The rooms are very clean, well kept, and well equipped. Luc cooks delicious meals, drawing on his experience as a chef at international hotels. He speaks good German, and both he and Freya speak good English as well as Flemish. The eight-hectare grounds have quiet spots, a whirlpool, walking paths, and lots of plants to explore. Four friendly dogs and a shy but sweet cat made the place feel lively, and fresh eggs from the chickens were used in the kitchen. As far as I understand, there’s also a self-catering apartment for rent in the second house. That’s Luc and Freya’s own home, though they spend most of their time in the large guesthouse.

We stayed there for my 50th birthday, just before they won "Four in a Bed." Even at the end of February it already felt cozy, and the food was delicious. I follow along on Facebook now, where Freya shares the true story behind it, always in a fun way. I definitely want to visit again!

Caradise is a beautiful spot, and we loved staying there. It’s great being able to live outdoors while still having some shelter. Luc and Freya are there whenever you need them, but they also give you all the peace and quiet you could want. We got such a warm, friendly welcome.
