The Docks Ocean View & Beach Front Villas

I entered the wrong date by mistake when I booked, but they wouldn't move my booking to another date, even if I paid extra. They also insisted on keeping the 700 Euro cancellation fee and refused a refund. Hope you're happy taking money for nothing!

Pedro really went out of his way for us. A few days into the stay, my keys fell from my pocket while I was on the beach admiring the sunset, and disappeared between the rocks. He drove an hour from the other side of the island to bring a spare, with no complaints or lecture. He just said he'd once lost some coins in a similar way, then searched through the stones until, very luckily, he found my original keys. A really hardworking, accommodating guy. The place is right by the beach, beside a waterfall and hiking trail. Waking up to the waterfall and ocean waves was lovely, and the fishing village is peaceful. After a few days we recognised locals and fishermen playing dominoes at breakfast. Though advertised as villas, these are three two-bedroom apartments, and ours was the middle one. It was well laid out, with marble in the kitchen and bathroom and a very comfortable, large main bedroom bed. There's AC in the living room but not the bedrooms. When we asked, Pedro brought us a fan, which did the trick. Great place and a great guy.

We had a lovely week here. It's a peaceful part of Madeira, great for a morning swim at the pier, and there's a nice little hike right next door.

The guesthouse is nice, and while the apartments are small, they work well. It was a shame some basics were missing, like toilet paper and dish soap. I mean the essentials besides food that you'd need to cook without having to buy extras.
