I can’t comment on the rooms since we stayed at the utterly charming Alberge just around the corner. The hotel spa, though, is a lesson in making something mediocre feel expensive. At €25, I expected at least a little luxury or some sign of care. Instead, it felt like an abandoned leisure centre from the 1980s. The pool is small and neglected, the décor seems beyond hope, and the public areas were literally as cold as the mountain air outside. The saunas and Turkish baths were the only warm places, which made the rest seem even bleaker. There was no drinking water, warmth, or sense of pride, just complacency dressed up as “rustic charm.” It’s a shame because there’s a natural spring at the source, and this place could be incredible. As it is, it feels like it’s soaking in its own apathy. It’s also hard to forget that the valley’s hotels, apart from the lovely independent Alberge, are all owned by one monopoly. You’d think having all the money in the valley might lead to some effort, but apparently the approach is that there’s no reason to improve without competition.

The waters were nice, and the staff were friendly. We managed to relax for an hour or so, but the spa is dirty looking and badly run down. As others have mentioned, one sauna and one shower are broken, and some light fittings are missing. It urgently needs updating. Inside, it feels like something from a horror film.

The manager and staff really go out of their way to make your stay memorable and help however they can. The resort is enchanting, and the thermal waters feel restorative.

We spent a week at the hotel with friends. The food was very good, and the pools were good too, though we didn’t try the spa treatments. The surroundings are a great fit if you’re after peace and nature. Breakfast in the yard, surrounded by trees, was especially lovely.
