Rosa here. I chose Quinta do Tempo to rest and recharge, and breathing that pure mountain air was just what I needed. The owners gave us the warmest welcome. Highly recommended!

Even a couple of days here showed me what a special place it is. The hosts are wonderful locals who can help with special needs and share lots of ways to discover Monchique. The garden has a spiritual, almost ritual feel, with a water feature that keeps it fresh, leafy shade, and a lovely patch of grass for lying in the sun and relaxing. It really does make time slow down. Quinta do tempo is a renovated villa that draws on Monchique’s traditional architecture. Wood and stone follow their natural shapes, making the guest houses both attractive and comfortable. They’re functional too, with sustainability in mind and solar panels for energy. All of it sits peacefully among nature’s colors and sounds.

The owners are such sweet people, and they let you sample the fruit and vegetables growing in the garden. It’s a lovely refurbished old Quinta.

It’s fine for a summer visit, but it gets too cold in winter, so I wouldn’t recommend staying then.
