Montargil Monte Novo

Miguel, the chef, made me dinner even though the restaurant was technically closed. I was the only guest, astonishingly, on a Monday in November, and it felt like having a private chef for the evening. The food was a delight, creative and excellent, made with local and seasonal ingredients. Thanks, Miguel. I look forward to trying more of your cooking. I booked the hotel because it was close to a company where I had a meeting the next day, without doing much research. What a find. The setting, scenery, buildings, and rooms are all magnificent. My spacious room was luxuriously furnished, with windows over the infinity pool and reservoir, partly screened by a row of majestic palms. The room was very quiet, the bed was comfortable, and I slept well. It had a massive TV, a large split bathroom with a double washbasin, shower, and toilet, plus a coffee machine and a handful of capsules. I enjoyed coffee on the terrace before breakfast. The service was impeccable. I know it was off-season and the room rate can be twice what I paid, but even at that price it would be well worth it.

We had a few quiet, private days there, and it wasn't crowded. The staff are really friendly, and you can tell they care about their work. I was unsure about the chef's choice at first, but when the dish arrived, I couldn't wait to try it. It amazed me. Highly recommend it. I went with my girlfriend, and we'd definitely choose this hotel over any other in the area.

The view was incredible, and staying here was a real pleasure. We loved both the breakfast and the "menu degustação"!

A lovely house, a very good stay, and nice people. I'd recommend it and would go back if I get the chance.
