We came back for a second stay, which says a lot, and had another gorgeous, memorable time. The Lilases Suite at Lilases Hotel in Mora, Portugal, is spacious and breathtaking. Its hand-painted walls, seemingly inspired by earlier eras, give the room a timeless, enchanting feel, almost like staying inside a work of art. The hotel is also wonderfully dog-friendly: our dog had a cozy bed, bowls, and even a personalized treat box. The pool area is beautiful and a peaceful spot to relax. I honestly can’t fault the stay apart from breakfast, which didn’t quite match the hotel’s high standards. There’s no menu, and the choices offered verbally are quite limited: usually eggs in small portions, local cheese, and three slices of ham or charcuterie, plus juice. I’d have liked more options, perhaps fruit platters and other local specialties, with more generous servings; choices for dietary needs, including vegan food; and more customization or rotation so breakfast wouldn’t feel repetitive each day. With a better breakfast, this would be close to perfect, a hidden gem in every sense.

Right in the city centre, there are beautiful views over the cork fields and the rest of the city. The owner is very friendly, and the whole place feels welcoming. The kitchen serves delicious local dishes for dinner and breakfast. It’s high standard without being expensive, and I can really recommend a visit.

It’s a lovely spot to get away from busy Lisbon, unwind, and chill. The owners are genuinely nice, and you can tell they care about the little details. Breakfast was a highlight: good coffee, fresh fruit and berries, local cheeses and meats, plus eggs with asparagus or bacon, served with a view over the pool and the surrounding scenery.

Dogs aren’t just allowed here, they’re truly welcome. The hotel is charming, with lovely views throughout, and the hospitality, location, and interiors were fantastic. It’s in a less well-known but equally beautiful part of inland Alentejo. I’m looking forward to coming back in summer to enjoy the pool. Thank you, Rui!

The hosts, Teresa and Rui, are an amazing couple and made our stay something special. The service was excellent, and we loved this charming boutique hotel. It’s a great romantic getaway for a couple, with cozy, exquisite rooms that are each different. We’ll definitely come back.
