Menina Colina Guesthouse

We spent four nights in the sky room and really enjoyed how relaxed it felt. A laid-back place, with a good distance to Porto’s sights.

We had a lovely family stay at Menina Colina, with two babies along too, and everything went smoothly. The bedrooms are very nice, and the location works well. Service was warm and attentive. My one suggestion would be to add air conditioning to the rooms that don’t have it.

The guesthouse and garden are really cute, and it’s easy to get to the old neighborhoods from here. We stayed three nights and found the staff super friendly. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. There’s fado at the guesthouse most days, and guests get a discount on tickets.

We’d happily stay at Menina Colina again on our next trip to Porto. It has historic character while still being comfortable, and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for that combination. The B&B’s location turned out to be central enough after all. We could easily walk around Porto and across the bridge to Villa Nova de Gaia, though the steep Ribeira hills are part of the deal. As the sun was going down, we came across Miradouro do Passeio das Virtudes just a few minutes away. It’s a lovely, lively local spot with bars and a nice view. We also enjoyed a glass of wine on our balcony and in the backyard in the evenings, and espresso there in the mornings. The rooms were charming and comfortable, the service friendly, and breakfast healthy and delicious.
