Beach House Babylon

The room itself was nice, and the place was somewhat peaceful, but this may have been my worst stay because we felt so misled. The photos give the wrong impression, so look carefully before booking. The “Beach house” name is misleading too, since the beach is quite far away. The owner seems too clever for his own good with the SEO gimmicks. The pool wasn't really usable for swimming, let alone diving. The garden has lots of flowers and looks big in pictures, but it's basically a square packed with plants, with barely enough room for a yoga mat. The owner's dog came to pee outside the guest house every morning, and once there was a big pile of poo in the garden. We hadn't been warned about the dog. The outdoor kitchen items were very dusty, and the barbecue was filthy, old, and rusty.

The garden is a beautiful jungle, with lots of different spots to sit and varying levels of comfort and atmosphere. Inside, the rooms are stylish, nicely decorated, and full of art in every corner. We booked one night through Booking after my wife spotted the place and we'd read a few good reviews. The location was quiet and near some of Portugal's lovely hidden beaches and top quality fish restaurants. The owner treated us as warmly as a five star hotel host, made us feel at home, and was kind and patient with our puppy beagle.

Beach House Babylon was my best choice yet among the small independent places I seek out instead of big international chains. The beach is reached by a lovely walk, and the location is great. The rooms were spotless and spacious enough to feel comfortable even on a long visit. You can see the care and good taste in every interior and exterior detail. Francisco was a wonderful host, and I'll definitely return.

The beach was amazing, and we really enjoyed the boat trip. Francisco was a fantastic host and recommended places for us to visit nearby. And of course, sweet adorable Bubbles. I was there on holiday with my parents and felt at home at Beach House Babylon. It was very quiet, beautifully decorated, and really clean. We had such peaceful days. Thank you, Francisco.
