We wished we could have stayed longer than four nights, but that was all we could fit between other stops on our three-week trip around São Miguel. We loved quiet Nordeste, and the house made it easy to explore the island’s eastern end and its many hiking trails. Cristiano was wonderful to deal with before, during, and after our visit. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the house had everything we needed for a longer stay. We were even greeted with a basket of treats. The beds were comfortable, the towels soft, and the living room inviting. Having a washer and dryer was a real treat for us full-time travelers. The stone house still has so much of its original charm, especially the beautiful wood inside. Cooking on the modern stove in the kitchen, I could almost hear avó and vovǒ chatting by the old wood-fired one. Thanks, Cristiano. We’ll be back next time we pass through.
