The golf course was in great shape, and this rural place also offers high end accommodation and great service.

We arrived at 5:15 PM, though check in is listed as 5 PM, and our room still wasn't ready. We waited until 5:40 PM. Nobody offered compensation for the inconvenience, just smiles and indifference.

The only pleasant part was the woman at the front desk. The location is a 15 minute drive from the castle, much too far to walk. There are two outdoor pools, but no indoor pool or hot tub. The room and bathrooms were in awful shape. Both floors smelled moldy, the bathrooms had no shampoo or conditioner, and the body wash bottle was empty. There was long hair left by previous guests, rusty fixtures, and a sink or bathtub that wouldn't drain properly. The pillows and blankets smelled of mildew, and the bedroom rug was soaked with muddy, old dust. It was disgusting, and the mold smell gave me a headache in the middle of the night. Opening the fridge was foul too, since it had been sprayed with cleaning disinfectant, and I wouldn't put food in it. Dust had gathered in the corners and under the tables. I can't believe American Express would suggest a place like this. For your health, never book here.

The grounds are dangerous in places, with sidewalks that make me fear I'll break an ankle every day. Much of the resort looks like an abandoned construction site, and the condos show black mold on their facades and aren't well cared for. The whole place seems to be falling apart through neglect and poor maintenance. Rental ads for houses here can give a completely misleading impression of their condition. The management is terrible. People with sense are renting or buying elsewhere, while owners who are stuck here are desperately trying to escape their mortgages. Don't rent or live here, you'll regret it.
