TARA C.
Even without getting inside Óbidos Castle, we found plenty to explore in the village and along the walls, enough to keep us busy for a few hours. We got there just before closing but missed the 5pm cutoff. Walking through the main entrance, the ceramic tile work makes a beautiful historic welcome. You can walk along the walls for incredible views over the countryside and down into the streets, though many sections have no railings and feel a bit exciting. There are lots of small shops, cafes, and restaurants with local specialties and unusual souvenirs. We ate at Madock Restaurante Castelo de Óbidos, which had a fun Harry Potter-inspired feel. The food was tasty, though service took a while because it was busy. Such a magical, picturesque place.
