Quinta do Bom Vento

The welcome basket was a lovely surprise, packed with plenty of good things. After a long day of cycling and driving, we were glad to make a quick meal from it in the very nice kitchenette, then crash for the first day. Sam and Richard have a wonderful place and share it so graciously. Our room/suite was fantastic, and their restaurant suggestions were very good too. One of the top ten places to stay in Portugal. Highly recommend.

We arrived after a stressful journey, and Rich & Sam made us feel cared for in a way that went beyond what we expected from hosts. It felt like staying with old friends, and we felt part of something special rather than just guests. The guest house is beautiful, peaceful, spotless and incredibly cozy, with lovely views to wake up to and quiet surroundings that made it easy to relax and recharge. You can see how much care and love they’ve put into every detail. The fridge was already stocked with delicious fresh items when we arrived, and they surprised us almost every day with fresh goods from the local bakery. We had everything we needed to settle in right away. Thank you, Rich & Sam, for such a heartfelt experience. Staying with them was one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal.

Sam and Rich were the best hosts we’ve ever had. They’ve created a little oasis with great attention to detail, in a peaceful area close to Óbidos. The beach is only 25 minutes away, and Sintra is 45 minutes away.

We’re back for our second visit and plan to keep coming to this beautiful little piece of paradise as long as we can. Sam and Rich are gracious, kind and fun hosts, and the Quinta is in the most beautiful setting. We think it’s hard to find another place like it in Portugal, maybe even Europe. Each unit is beautifully decorated, and there’s so much to make you feel welcome. On arrival we had an appetizer plate, wine, beer and whatever other amenity we could think of. The fridge and cupboards were full of different food items. The bedding and towels are first class, and there was even a bag of dog treats waiting for our furry family members. Warm bread and pastries in the morning are another lovely touch. We can’t say enough about this place or the wonderful couple who run it!
