Palmares Beach House Hotel - Adults Friendly

The balcony and restaurant/bar have an amazing view, and the outside pool was nice, though it wasn’t heated. The service seemed fantastic: a staff member welcomed us, helped us to our room, explained a few things, and was available for questions. We also found local sweets and complimentary water in the room. There’s 24-hour room service, though we didn’t use it. I’m sure the staff would have been accommodating. We only stayed one night, and the price felt fair for the experience. The hotel has just 20 rooms and feels almost like a boutique place. It was comfortable, with very little wrong, but in our opinion the rooms and decor didn’t quite live up to the listed 5-star standard. The bathroom hooks spun and hadn’t been installed properly. The room was simple, perhaps plain, and the lobby and restaurant/bar were small and simple too. For us, it felt more like a 4-star hotel, with the view making up for some of that. We’d stay again.

There was no poolside service, and you couldn’t order drinks or food there. The wooden deck was poorly maintained, with planks sticking out that we got caught on. There was no lifeguard. The sea was very far from the hotel, and the beach was just an ordinary public beach, nothing special. We were a family of five in two rooms, and found the hotel very disappointing, despite its potential. Reception and service felt unmanaged and offered no smiles. Staff showed little interest in us, never asked if we needed anything or tried to get to know us. The whole place felt alienating, without joy or a pleasant atmosphere. The hotel lacked character and soul. We won’t return or recommend it.

The views were excellent, the staff were lovely, and breakfast was absolutely lovely with plenty of choice. We had a great time. The bathroom could use some TLC, and there was quite a bit of development around the area, but once inside the hotel, everything was excellent.

The rooms were fantastic, more like suites, and the service was the best. We loved the wonderful nights and the amazing view of Lagos from our room balcony. We’ll come back.
