Quinta das Achadas

Jill and Julio made us feel like part of the family. We had everything we needed in our rooms, breakfast was always a generous spread, and the heated salt pool was exquisite. The location was central to all the places we wanted to explore. We don’t often return to the same place, but we definitely want to come back to Quinta Das Achadas.

The location gave us plenty to do. We spent a day at the zoo, drove about 15 minutes to Lagos for its nice town centre and harbour, and found several beaches roughly 20 minutes away. Each beach had its own feel, views, and restaurants. We stayed at Quinta das Achadas for two weeks and found it incredibly relaxing. The online photos don’t really do this hidden gem justice. The facilities are great, and Jill and Julio did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. Breakfast was delicious every morning, and they tidied our apartment while we were at the beach. They cooked tasty dinners for us on a few evenings, including one we shared with them and really enjoyed. Jill even insisted on doing our laundry so we wouldn’t go home with dirty clothes, though we felt a bit guilty letting her. They also offered to babysit if we wanted a night out. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for some time away.

The Quinta was even better than I expected, like a real garden of Eden. We had spacious, cozy rooms and lovely hosts. Breakfast in the sunshine on the terrace, the heated pool, and the occasional dinner together all made it feel like a perfect holiday. It’s also well set up for families with babies or toddlers.

A great spot for young kids, with welcoming hosts and easy access to the main attractions in the south-west Algarve. If you want somewhere laid-back and out of the Algarve bustle, this is perfect.
