Breakfast had fresh juice, yogurt, rolls, cheese and ham, several jams, plus coffee, tea and hot milk. The hostess was really friendly and showed us around the old vineyard. The place feels like a B&B on a family-run farm, vineyard and orchard, though the rooms are more hotel-like and have their own facilities. There’s a shared kitchen and a comfortable living and dining room. The bathrooms were great, and we had air conditioning and Wi-Fi. It’s a quiet escape from the city, with many sights still just a 20-minute drive away.

I had a good time there with the CAMTIL group. We cleared all the brush around the old house, and Dona Margarida thanked us a lot.

The room was simple but comfortable, and the view across the cork oaks was lovely. It’s a very peaceful spot and has recently been renovated. Mrs. Maria welcomed us warmly and was thorough.

At Quinta da Casa Velha, “home” means more than a building. It also means feeling at home in nature as human beings, and seeing our inner life as the home of our life. I’d recommend visiting if you want to experience an integrated and sincere way of living with nature.
