Quinta dos Poetas Nature Hotel & Apartments

The views are lovely, and the room was so quiet we couldn’t hear the other guests. It’s a peaceful rural spot that’s still easy to reach by car, and the staff were very friendly. My only reason for holding back the fifth star is the mattress, which was incredibly firm, and I sometimes wild camp!

The pool, grounds and peaceful atmosphere made the stay really relaxing. The hotel is well kept, in a fantastic location, and the staff are excellent. I’d eaten here several times in past years, including lunch, dinner and Christmas Day, and it’s always been a good experience, with a great atmosphere, service, food and drink. There are bikes for hire too. The small basement gym is a bit damp and has little equipment, with no free weights, but who really needs a gym on holiday?

The quiet setting and lovely pool were the best parts of our stay at Quinta dos Poetas. It’s a charming place surrounded by nature, a peaceful break from everyday life, and the rooms were decent with what we needed for a comfortable stay. The food was less successful: the gambas curry had so much turmeric that I didn’t enjoy it, and breakfast was average with a modest selection. Still, the beautiful surroundings and tranquility made the stay pleasant despite those meals.

We’ve added another stay at Quinta dos Poetas Hotel to our wish list. The dishes we tried at dinner were excellent, and there was a good choice on the menu; breakfast also offered a fairly good continental selection. The hotel is inland, but most places are easy to reach. Hikers will find two trails in Pesao passing behind the hotel, with maps for those and other routes available at reception. It’s a small hotel with 15 rooms, plus apartments in a separate building in the garden. The garden was very quiet, and despite being fairly close to the airport, we didn’t hear any planes. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a small fridge and safe, and the clean bathroom had more than enough towels. Check-in was smooth, and the friendly staff gave us extra information to make the stay more pleasant. Even finding the hotel was easy, with signs visible well before we arrived.
