It felt like a holiday at grandma's house, and we liked it! The place is gorgeous and quaint, in a fantastic setting, and the staff are really friendly. The bed is small and hard, though, and some bedding and lights may well date from the 60s. The plumbing can be temperamental, and the Wi-Fi is slow.

Great spot, and the breakfast cake was really good.

I loved the bunk cubicles, with curtains and proper stairs, and there was plenty of room to put my things. The room is huge with lots of beds, yet still feels quite private. Alona was super friendly and helpful when she welcomed me. I also liked being able to order dinner from a local restaurant and have it delivered, so I could eat at the hostel without cooking. Out back there's a saltwater pool surrounded by lush greenery, with a lovely view. A great place to relax, read, or journal. I also found out the owner runs an enduro motorcycle tour company, which looks like a great way to explore Portugal by dirt bike. I'm doing the Camino this time, but might come back as a biker one day to try those tours.

The location is excellent and convenient, with everything you could want nearby. The host was so friendly and kept offering to help, ready to sort out whatever came up. There are a few small things that could be improved, but nothing concerning. I'd definitely stay again.
