Hotel Vista Bela do Geres

The owners went out of their way to help us sort out a problem with one of our motorbikes, and the people here are fantastic. We loved the charming setting, the surrounding views and roads, and the area is breathtaking. It was my first visit, but I’m sure it won’t be my last.

The pool area was so peaceful, and breakfast was really pleasant. Our room was nice and stayed at a comfortable temperature, and the staff were very friendly. Set in the heart of Peneda Geres National Park, the hotel is a lovely escape from everyday stress. The building itself is beautiful, an old granite house, with stunning views. We loved our stay and are looking forward to coming back.

The restaurant is reasonably priced, and the service was five-star. It’s a peaceful place with breathtaking views. At first I was going to complain about the lack of air conditioning, but then I learned everything runs on renewable energy. The morning and afternoon breeze cool the rooms, and the swimming pool is great, so I let it go.

The views and location are good for exploring the area, but the inn seems neglected and in poor shape, as if it hasn’t had maintenance for years. The bathtub curtain was old and torn, the carpets were old, and the wooden toilet seat was cracked all over. Wi-Fi was a joke: you might get a weak signal in the living room, depending on the carrier. The sauna seemed to be there for show because it wasn’t working. Most rooms feel like caves, with just a glass door and much of the room set deep inside between three walls. It gave me the impression they were in serious financial trouble and couldn’t afford even small renovations.
