We ended up spending an afternoon of our vacation cleaning because we were traveling with children and the house was so unsanitary. It was filthy, damp all over and full of cobwebs, not just in one room as the owner had told us. Even the microwave was covered in mold. Calling it dirty hardly describes it.

The owner sleeping inside the house while putting guests in open attic spaces alongside people in rooms, with no keys, is unacceptable. A place set up this way should simply be shut down.

We spent two wonderful weeks in this part of Portugal, staying at a holiday home called Golf and Surf Holiday House. The host was friendly, and we got a great price for the two weeks. The house was clean and cozy, and from there you can reach all the sights quickly. After days out, it was lovely to unwind with my family in the courtyard over a glass of wine. If you want peace and quiet and like looking out at the Atlantic Ocean each day, this is a dream. You can also walk around the small town and enjoy food, including fish dishes, at Canthino da Fonte restaurant in Ferrel.
