Peniche Surf Lodge 2

The lodge has a great board range, feels comfortable, and gets the balance right between laid-back and fun. Everyone makes you feel welcome, like you're part of the family. I was there for two weeks, and half the people arriving had already stayed two or more times, which says a lot. Dane and Duncan helped me finally move forward after being stuck at intermediate surfing for ages. I improved every day. They're good coaches at every level, and I'll definitely come back and join the repeat crowd.

Claire makes this feel more like a holiday with a lovely host family than just a surf camp. I had a fantastic week, even though I arrived nervous about water, waves, and hot weather as a Finn. Dane and Duncan were such good, down-to-earth teachers that even a potato like me got onto some waves. Their personal coaching made learning quick and fun. I got more out of learning to surf with Duncan than anywhere else I've tried. He's a great teacher, and the surf itself was awesome. The lodge is clean, with friendly Claire and Duncan, good wifi, a desk in the room, and a well-equipped kitchen. It worked really well for working online while surfing. I'd recommend it to other remote workers.

On my first surf holiday, I got up on the board on day one and improved quickly with the lessons. Duncan and their son Dane are great instructors, and Duncan's lessons were amazing. Claire and Duncan are caring, friendly hosts, and the daily beach trip includes a camp where you can surf or relax. You can borrow surf gear there too. The accommodation was clean and had everything I needed; it felt like home and like being part of a big surfing family. I'd recommend this place over other surf camps.
