Praia Norte

The site combines tents, motorhomes, and bungalows, and that mix created an atmosphere our family hadn't expected. They also don't make clear that many advertised services cost extra, including the gym, parking inside the campsite, and bringing a dog. The total came to a very high price for what was provided; we could have stayed in a decent hotel for that money. We went to El PenichePraia - Bungalows, Campers & SPA for a week in Peniche, but the stay was a major mistake and spoiled a lot of our holiday. The website photos bore little resemblance to the bungalow we got. It was poorly maintained, dull and uncomfortable, and a strong bathroom smell spread through the whole room. It was noisy too. The walls were so thin we could hear everything outside, making a good night's sleep impossible. When we raised the problems, the staff offered no solution. We asked for a refund because the stay didn't match what we'd paid for, but they refused and showed no willingness to help. The advertising felt completely misleading, and we left feeling misled. I wouldn't recommend it to families or other travelers.

The views over the sea and Berlengas were lovely, and the site is near a supermarket if you need anything. We enjoyed the free pool, and the Spa was a good experience, though a little pricey. Our bungalow was clean and well equipped with a fridge, microwave, TV, and a few kitchen bits. The bathroom was fine, and I have no complaints about it. The bedroom was good too, with a comfortable mattress, sheets, and pillows. A great stay overall.

The tent area could use trees and some landscaping. Pitches are scattered around the campsite, and a few are pretty unappealing, like a narrow grass strip between a wall and the service road. Ours was right beside the main road, so it was very loud. The staff were lovely and helpful with questions about Peniche.

We reserved a place for our caravan. The staff were very welcoming, and I really enjoyed meeting them. Breakfast in the restaurant was tasty and inexpensive, with lovely views.
