Sea Garden Residência

The rooms were roomy, and we were lucky to get one at the front with a small balcony. It was perfect for an evening drink and a chat. Breakfast had lots of variety and was very good. The location makes it easy to walk around town, and the best beaches are close by car. The people were really nice and friendly. This place was a great surprise, and I truly recommend it. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Peniche.

The breakfast had good variety, but parking was inconvenient. You have to park on the street in front of the hotel, and if you find a space, it costs €1 every two hours. Our stay was acceptable for a short visit, but the strong perfume smell throughout the hotel, in the rooms, and on the bedding was a serious problem for me. After one night our clothes smelled like bubble gum. I’m allergic to strong perfumes and can manage mild scents, but this was too much. When we mentioned it to the receptionist, she seemed surprised we disliked the fragrance and didn’t seem very sympathetic. We asked for fresh bedding that hadn’t been sprayed. We had to change it ourselves because the receptionist was the only staff member there, which wasn’t the problem. What upset us was being told, “You should have mentioned that when you booked.” We said we travel all over the world and had never run into this before, but she didn’t seem to understand how serious allergies can be. If you’re sensitive to strong smells or don’t like a constant bubble gum scent, I’d avoid this hotel.

The hotel feels far larger than it looks from outside, and it’s close to the centre. Our room was on the top floor at the front, yet it was quiet and well insulated. Everything was warm and very clean, with a comfortable bed, good sheets, and an ensuite with excellent water pressure. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, especially the bacon. The staff were excellent and the value was hard to beat. Many thanks, and happy new year.

The central Peniche location was a real plus, and the room itself was nice. We arrived at night and they were flexible about check-in. The bed was clean and comfortable, though the bathroom needed a better clean because there was quite a lot of mould. Apart from that, it was a nice place for a one-night stay.
