Peralux

It’s a peaceful, small complex in a local village, away from the busy tourist resorts, and I’d happily come back. During the school summer holidays, there were always sunbeds free by the clean pool, so there was no fighting for a spot or lining up at a hotel buffet. The studio was modern, clean and well planned, with plenty of storage and everything we needed. We had good Wi-Fi, clean sheets and towels, pool towels, and useful air conditioning in the heat. I used the cooker for eggs, the toaster for breakfast and the kettle for tea. There’s also a barbecue area, where I cooked sausages. We stayed for 10 days. I kept the studio tidy myself, but you can pay extra for cleaning. A broom, mop and cleaning supplies were provided. If you arrive after hours, you can get your apartment’s card key from the safe. My teenage child mostly ate chips and loved the hammock outside our studio. The village has a small shop, a little market and a few nice places to eat. The local restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices, and there’s a cafe nearby for coffee and cakes. I managed with the basics from the shop, though others might prefer to go to a supermarket in another town. There isn’t much else in the village, and the beach is too far to walk to, so you’ll need a car or Uber. I’d hoped to use the bus, but it wasn’t an easy option. An Uber to the nearest beach costs 5 euros, while Lagos is 30 euros away by Uber. A car is probably best if you want to explore.

Paula Christina is lovely and made us feel welcome. She decorates the bed with beautiful works of art. The apartments are clean and spacious, with a beautiful view. It’s a bit of a walk to the beach, but this is a nice spot if you want to get away from the touristy coast.

The rooms and studio flats are spacious and very clean, and the service is really friendly. Great value for money, highly recommended.

Paula was the highlight of our stay. She handled housekeeping, check-in and checkout, and concierge help, knew all the local information, and was always looking after guests. It was lovely to see her warm smile each morning. Obrigado por tudo, Paula! Até à próxima! Our room was spacious, clean and tidy, with everything we needed for a winter break. PeraLux is well placed for supermarkets, restaurants, a self-service laundromat and the beautiful beaches in nearby Armação de Pêra, all within an easy 15 minute drive. The weak internet was a problem, especially since it’s such a basic need these days. That’s the one thing PeraLux needs to sort out.
