The layout took a moment to understand: from the street door there's a long concrete staircase, and the apartment sits above shops with unusually high ceilings, spanning what amounts to the second and third floors. Inside, though, it opens into roughly 600 square feet, or 56 square meters, of living space. A chair lift on a rail, operated by remote, provides access for people with disabilities and also made it easy to bring our heavy luggage upstairs. We appreciated that a lot. The rooftop pool and broad deck were a special bonus. From the private courtyard, separate doors lead into the kitchen and living room, and private stairs go up to the pool level. Pool chairs and towels were supplied. Downstairs, there was a big dining room and family entertainment room, plus a beautifully furnished kitchen. It had a large fridge, stove, microwave, sink, counter space, dishes, cutlery, and cookware. The unusual tile, almost mosaic-like, and the high ceilings made the lower floor feel spacious. The living room's HVAC had its own remote control. Upstairs, both bedrooms had their own luxurious bathrooms, big airy windows, and very quiet surroundings. We slept well. The beds were firm but comfortable, and each room had individually controlled HVAC. The quality and practical details throughout gave the apartment a luxurious but peaceful feel. This was one of our top five stays ever, after traveling across five continents and 40 countries. It also worked as a central base for attractions in Peso da Régua and the surrounding countryside. We couldn't think of anything missing during our two nights, and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting this enchanting part of north central Portugal. Getting there took about three hours north of Lisbon on an easy, divided four-lane highway.

The beds and living room were so comfortable, and parking was easy. Everything was spotless, including the three bathrooms. There's a TV with Netflix, and the kitchen was huge and had everything we needed to cook dinner at home. The supermarket is a two-minute walk away. Plus, the house is big and has a lake view. What a property, absolutely perfect!

Everything was just right.
