Nuno made us feel at home right away, and the pool was a lovely bonus. We also became big fans of his wine. Our room was clean, cozy, and comfortable, and Thelma’s breakfasts, dinners, and cakes were so good we’d recommend eating in. A wonderful stay in a beautiful spot.

The view over the Douro river from the front yard is hard to beat, and you can cool off in the pool after enjoying it. Quinta da Travessa is a beautiful, rustic place, with Nuno offering genuinely helpful recommendations and Thelma cooking delicious breakfasts and dinners each night we were there. The local train is about a 15-minute walk away, and it’s an easy, inexpensive way to reach nearby towns. We loved our stay and hope to come back someday.

Nuno was so kind, friendly, professional, and quick to help whenever we had a travel question. The fresh fruit, local cheese, bread, pastries, and eggs made breakfast a great start to each day. We had such a peaceful, lovely time at Quinta da Travessa and would definitely return.

We loved taking our time here, relaxing, exploring at our own pace, and taking photos of the Douro river and vineyards. It was the prettiest place we stayed in Portugal, quiet and quaint, with wonderful hospitality from Nuno. Dinner was fresh and delicious, with food from his garden, and his wine is a must-try.

Nuno and the staff were so welcoming and hospitable. The property is lovely, and our room was charming and really clean. We spent a couple of nights here, and it was easily the best part of our Portugal trip. I’d definitely suggest staying in for dinner and letting them cook.
