Quinta de São João

There are three apartments on the property, and they share some areas, so keep that in mind. The service is excellent, and there’s a pool, indoor parking, and a barbecue area with everything you need. A good place to spend a few days in the area.

The setting is really peaceful and private, and the pool has a great view. We stayed in the one-bedroom house, which had everything we needed for a quiet few days. The woman who welcomed us was wonderful and made us feel very much at ease. A great place to relax.

They welcomed us with a beautiful pão de ló, and there was fresh bread every morning. The pool is nice, and there’s an outdoor spot for preparing barbecue meals, with a table to eat outside. It’s easy to reach from the A1 and close to lots of places of historical and tourist interest. Good space for children, and ideal for a family using several houses. I recommend it.

I booked two nights by mistake after being misled by the advertising about what’s pompously called the “casinha da eira.” It’s no little house, just a cramped space of 20 m2 at most, with a mediocre single bed and three stacked bunk beds, plus a bathroom. At 60€/day, it’s a rip-off for such minimal accommodation. The outdoor meal-preparation area has too little tableware and isn’t clean enough. There isn’t even a little Nexpresso-style machine for morning coffee. It feels like more people who think they can take advantage of tourists without the slightest shame. The pool is the only thing that’s decent. AVOID.
