Vintage Place - Azorean Guest House

The bed was comfortable even for me at 6'4", and the bathroom was nice. Staff were very helpful, spoke great English, and made the place feel tourist friendly. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of options. Getting there and back out was a bit awkward, though Ponta Delgado itself can be like that. I’d definitely recommend it.

Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly, but over our six nights we found it hard to ignore the hostel’s problems. The buildings are in poor shape, and our room, “Floral,” was very damp and moldy. The bed wobbled and the bathroom was cramped, so it wasn’t a pleasant place to spend time. It might do for one night, but for a longer stay I’d consider paying a few euros more for a better room. Also, the nearby airport makes noise from 6 AM.

Parking can be tricky with a large rental car. The road is tiny, and Ponta Delgada’s streets can be difficult to navigate in a wider vehicle, so a small car is a better fit. The breakfast is decent and covers the basics: three kinds of bread, coffee from a machine, and a homemade local cake. There are no cooked eggs or more elaborate dishes like sausages or scrambled eggs. This is one of the most affordable and convenient places to stay in Ponta Delgada. There are fancier hotels with more amenities, but at much higher prices. If you’re traveling smart and mainly want a clean, respectable place to sleep, it’s good value.

The breakfast was nice, and the location is okay, about a 20-minute walk from the city center. Check-in took a long time, even though we had already completed the required online check-in. Then they showed us a dark, moldy room with tiny windows just a few meters behind reception. We took a couple of minutes to calm down, then asked for a better room. Booking showed the place as fully booked, yet they immediately moved us to a nice, airy room on the second floor without asking. The staff were completely impolite, as if they hoped we wouldn’t complain about being put in that first room.
