Casa da Vargem II, With Swimming Pool

The place was far too overpriced for what it offered, and some of the photos were misleading. For instance, the bamboo wall looked like it was right by the pool in the pictures, but it wasn’t. There was also a moldy smell, which could be a hazard, and the couch smelled awful. Cleanliness was a major problem. The floors were dirty and covered in hair, the dishes were soiled, and the hot tub, which isn’t a jacuzzi, was filthy. We spent an hour scrubbing it before using it. The place was infested with bugs and spiders everywhere. We stayed in two other places offering the same standards, and both were spotless, including when it came to insects, so Vargem has no excuse. The owner’s girlfriend greeted us and said the owner had left three bottles of wine. She said we’d have to pay 50 to 70 euros per bottle if we drank them. It was in poor taste to assume we’d need to replace them by buying other bottles. She also said they were rare wines we couldn’t find anywhere else and that the owner’s price was below what it should be. Just for fun, I looked them up and found each one significantly cheaper. She also showed us where the mop, bucket and cleaning products were. Maybe she expected us to do the cleaning they were supposed to have done. There was hardly anything provided. Not even salt in the kitchen. They left just one garbage bag and two dishwashing tablets for five days. That’s just cheap.
