The animals are treated like royalty and made to feel part of the family, and guests get that same warm welcome. The place is beautiful and quiet, and we spent over a week there. Honestly, it was the best week I've had in a while. We left overjoyed and will count the days until we return. With my whole heart, thank you Hotel Cotto do Gatto. It’s something to look forward to every year now. For me, the pet-friendly policy meant a lot, especially since I have some impairments and am particular about a few things. I looked at lots of places that called themselves pet-friendly, but they always said no when I mentioned my three cats. Not here. They love pets and animals in general, and there's a kennel on the premises where they care for a few animals from the region. The staff were the kindest, most humble people I've ever met. The hotel itself is jaw-droppingly beautiful, and the whole idea behind the place is brilliant and so well done. If you want the comfort of home while you're away, this is the place.

The rooms were spotless and beautifully decorated, which made everything even more comfortable. This is easily the most genuinely pet-friendly hotel we’ve stayed in, and we absolutely loved it. Our dog was welcome everywhere and everyone was incredibly kind to us, especially to him. Dogs can go into reception, the bar, the library, and even dinner. The one limit is the pool: dogs can be in the pool area, but not jump into the water, which seems perfectly reasonable. I’d absolutely recommend it for a relaxing break with your pet.

It’s wonderfully peaceful, with easy parking and a national park nearby that has great hiking. Of all the dog-friendly places we visited, this was by far the best for our pup, and we really felt welcome. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms were spacious. The scenery was breathtaking. One of the best service experiences we had on our trip to Portugal. We’d come back 100% if we return to the area!

The owners are lucky to have such fantastic staff, they’re at the heart of the experience. The setting is peaceful and relaxing, and I left feeling not only rested but truly cared for.
