The canned fish selection along one wall is huge, and you can pick up treats or gifts there too. I especially liked the Muxama, the cured tuna slices, as well as the tasting plates and house specials. They serve traditional “tibornas” (bruschettas) made with quality canned fish, which make this an important part of Portimão's food scene. The chilled house white is delicious and good value, and the traditional almond tart goes really well with their excellent coffee. A great place to stop for lunch or in the afternoon when you're in Portimão.

The bruschetta and Tuna ham were so good I'd happily come back again and again. It was nice to try some of the area's canning history through the food. Everything was delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices were super reasonable. The staff were polite and service was quick. It's a small, busy restaurant, but it never felt too crowded.

The lunch queues are worth waiting in. A sharing platter lets you sample several things, and the fresh burgers are generous. The salads were delicious too, made with a certain touch. I can't fault the food here, and they deserve every bit of success.

Friends who had been to Maria do Mar a few weeks earlier recommended it, so we made a special trip for lunch. The tasting plate and spicy tuna salad were both great. The salad had pomegranate, avocado, orange, plums, cherry tomatoes, nuts, and other ingredients, with a pleasant amount of spice. The tinned fish was the best we've ever had.

There are lots of canned fish options to buy and take home, including some beautifully wrapped tins that really catch your eye. The owner was very friendly and helped us choose when we couldn't make up our minds. We tried a variety plate and a salad with different fish. The Tuna Ham was our clear favorite, and the fish pâté was new to us and something we really enjoyed.
