Madeira Black Sand House by Stay Madeira Island

Waking up to the sound of the sea was lovely, and the place felt very romantic. The view is genuinely beautiful and the location was just perfect. Inside, it’s beautifully finished, with a great shower and big, comfortable beds. There’s everything you need for six nights, though we had to plug the kettle in behind the sofa because there wasn’t a power socket in the kitchen. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

The peaceful setting and breathtaking sea views made Madeira Black Sand Beach House a real gem for us. It’s right on the black sand beach, so we fell asleep to the waves and woke up to the ocean. The large terrace is a lovely spot for morning coffee or wine at sunset, and the stylish, comfortable house is well equipped. The kitchen has what you need, and the living room is inviting. A few steps take you straight onto the soft black sand for a walk or a refreshing swim. It’s quiet and away from tourist crowds, but people looking for complete seclusion should know there are only a few restaurants nearby, so a rental car is recommended. The wind can be strong depending on the season, though it didn’t take much away from the experience. We’d love to come back and recommend it to anyone wanting a quieter, nature-filled stay in Madeira.

The beach is stunning, with fine black sand and a heavenly setting that includes a small natural waterfall. There’s parking in a small lot up above, then a signposted path takes about five minutes to walk down to the beach.
